Poop!

The first time Joshua tried to use his potty, he went - but not exactly IN the potty! ("Once Upon a Potty" book)

So last week Fin voluntarily made a pee-pee in the potty. And this week his cousin Maya, who is I believe 6 months younger, made her first poo-poo in her potty (in Virginia I think).

Today, after dinner, I got a feeling that Fin was ready to make his evening poo-poo... so I invited him to join me in Potty Time in the bathroom. We took our pants down, and I took his diaper off, and he started to sit on the potty... but... instead of doing what Joshua did the first time he used the potty correctly:

sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and
sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and

Bunky decided to get up, turn around, and look in the potty to see if anything was there. He likes to play with his singing, talking musical potty (note to future self: bad idea) a little too much. So I ignored him and decided to read the latest mailing from Comic*Con and then Daddy came in to see how we were all doing and...

There on the floor between his boots under his pants was his POOP! (blech!!!)

Although he had no idea that it was his (as opposed to one of the cat's), we praised him and I reminded him that Joshua took some time to get it right too.

Pics part 2

Here we see Bunky helping mama out with some voiceover recording. You can see how carefully he checks the position of the mic, and dissatisifed, repositions it closer for optimal sound quality before putting his headphones back on.

OK, so that's not really what he's doing. But he likes to play with the headphones and mic anyway, and Ingrid actually managed to record him saying a bunch of stuff. In that recording are probably many deep thoughts and wonderful pearls of wisdom, if only we could successfully translate what he's saying.... :)

News and new pics!

Me again, subbing in for Ingrid who's been working lots and going to bed/getting up early.
Well, today was a milestone - Bunky finally used his potty on his own. He even got up and said "potty?" so I sat him down and he took his first steps towards being housebroken. Hooray!

So, in honour of this momentous occasion, here are some pictures that we've been meaning to put up from April and May.

First we have the future all star playing with daddy's helmet. He's gotten quite interested in all the hockey gear and likes walking around with his skates on, or failing that his helmet and gloves. Even BETTER is when he can get one of us to wear our heltmets with him (or even both of us). But he's also taken to pulling my gear out of my bag and trying it on for size. Here's a few pictures of him with my helmet and with my gloves.

In the first picture, notice the amazing belt we made for him out of a skate strap and buckle I got at the local rink. It's not easy to find belts in his size!

The Early Bird says, "Dop it!"

My child. Precious, full of vim and vigor, sweet as saccharine, young genius, adoring son, two-year-old. Translation: Energy of a bulldozer going down a steep hill with no brakes.

This morning, bright-eyes awoke at 6am. I don't even know what TV program was running on Playhouse Disney when I ushered him into the living room to vegetate while I went back to bed. Too early for Mamma and Daddy! Even those amazing, smiling little chub-cheeks can't rouse this lazy old goat!

"Don't worry, Mamma," is the latest phrase. Do I worry that much? I think not - not out loud at least. The other big phrase is "Dop it!" Usually repeated about 30 times in a row. Stop it. Translation: "I want to do it myself!" "No, don't do that to me!" "I'm not wearing those Thomas the Tank Engine underwear under any circumstances!" "No you can't go out this door because I'm blocking it because I don't want you to go to work today!"

Well, speaking of which, I'm at work. I have a bunch of new photos to upload and no time to do it. Why not? Because bright-eyes doesn't go to sleep until well after 10pm. How does he do it!? I have no idea. I wish I had the energy of any vehicle going downhill on any grade with no brakes. Even a trike would do.

Cheerio - for now I must "dop blogging" and do some work!
